Each piece of equipment and process area within a facility generates a significant amount of data and resources essential for staff to perform their duties effectively. However, these resources are often dispersed across multiple applications, making it challenging to access critical information exactly where it is needed—directly at the equipment site. iQagent offers a solution to this challenge.

iQagent enables users to create Points Of Interest (POIs) that link physical assets or process spaces to relevant data and resources from various plant systems, including live data feeds, Electronic Document Management Systems, CMMS, MES, ERP, and others. These POIs can incorporate real-time data from PLCs, SCADA systems, or ODBC production databases, alongside schematics, documents, videos, forms, and additional resources. This allows for comprehensive documentation of automation equipment, production lines, and process areas. When personnel conduct repairs, monitoring, or maintenance activities, they can interact with these POIs to retrieve the necessary information seamlessly, ensuring all required data is readily accessible right where the work takes place.

Operational Overview

The application functions in either a demo mode—referred to as Internal Mode—or in conjunction with a live system facilitated by the iQagent Server and Configuration tool installed at the plant. Internal Mode provides an environment to familiarize users with the application's features by simulating process data and documentation within an augmented reality (AR) context. It offers a practical understanding of how the system visualizes and interacts with process information in a typical plant setting.

In Live Mode, users can create and configure AR scenes that embed relevant POI resources, including real-time process data (via OPCDA, OPCUA, and ODBC), schematics, forms, videos, and other digital assets. These POIs can be positioned freely within virtual space—resized and adjusted as needed—and are instantly reusable across other iQagent AR applications within the network through QR code scanning of the POIs.
